Upstream

SUNDAY 30 APRIL 2023

9am-2pm

Step aboard and be taken back in time as you explore convict routes and the most important wharf on the Lower Hawkesbury River in the days of the mosquito fleet. Pulling up at the Governors' Halt, hear indigenous historical fiction evoking the 1830s and visit the site of the infamous Green Man Inn to delve into stories of hauntings, murders and mayhem with our expert tour guide. Our historical immersion continues in the company of Emeritus Professor Grace Karskens as we travel upstream in conversation about the old land, people of Dyarubbin and sacred country.

SUNDAY 30 APRIL 2023

12pm-5pm

Gliding between steep sandstone bluffs, hear from a sandstone and rock art researcher about Gondwana and how this magnificent landscape was formed. Further down river take a unique tour of Mud Island to delve into the unusual and bizarre stories from our entertaining history teller. We travel on to visit the beautifully located Bar Island, once a hub for Aboriginal people and early river traders, now with an abandoned midden, church and cemetery. Our cruise meanders back to Spencer to hear about Australian indigenous astronomy and connections to the songlines associated with Dyarubbin.
